Take Action

Global:

Though many ranchers in North America would prefer to live in a region without wolves, there are others who strive to minimize the need to kill this native predator. Using guard animals, rubber bullets, lines of colored flagging, and the watchful eyes of neighbors and hired hands, they're trying to proactively manage their herd and use non-lethal tools whenever possible.

Much like the Aatsinkis, these ranchers believe that current predator management systems do not provide long-term solutions and would like to see more cooperative relationships between herders, scientists, and governments.

You can help by supporting the efforts of one such group of ranchers, the Mountain Livestock Cooperative, who are working to merge rancher's knowledge about their livestock, land, and surroundings with scientific knowledge about carnivore behavior and ecology.
